When the product manager from Trimble came for lunch, he had a problem. The company had a new product. It was an innovative product with entirely new technology and purpose. A worldwide introduction would be costly and risky, we told him. Start with a partial introduction, get your ducks in a row, introduce your valued customers to this new technology slowly, and reduce the risk. They listened. They brought the Arment Group in at the beginning, held meetings in Germany, listed to customers and sales people. The materials, such as this video direct mail, made a significant contribution; the marketing savvy gave the product manager a leg up.
