Losing market share? Competition got you in a bind. IBM was losing millions on service for their high-end mainframe computers. They needed an outside perspective. Marketeer Fred Arment, working with Centric Communications, accompanied IBM insiders on a nationwide ten-city tour of IBM facilities. At one point, they flew Arment to Detroit to speak to the company Vice President. Arment had the nerve to say, "IBM is flexible." The room hushed. It was true. The company WAS flexible. It took an outside perspective to understand it, present it, and communicate it to their customers.

The clients won the coveted IBM Award of Excellence for the program.
